Dad Mia Grandma Leo Aunt Jo You Grandpa Ava

You know the moment.

The candles go out, the knife comes out, and the person you love waves the plate away. Or takes a sliver and watches everyone else eat. Or eats the slice and feels guilty about it for the rest of the night.

You could bake a separate "diabetic cake" that nobody wants. Or you can bake one cake, put it in the middle of the table, and cut it for everybody.

Five chapters, 40 cakes

Common questions

Is this medical advice?

No. It is a recipe book. Everyone with diabetes responds differently to food, so talk with your care team about what fits you or your child, and check blood sugar as they advise.

Are the cakes completely free of sugar?

Not completely. Fruit, dairy and a little molasses contain natural sugar. Most slices have under 5 grams, and the exact estimate is printed on every recipe.

Do I need special ingredients?

You need almond flour, coconut flour and a 1:1 sweetener. All three are sold in most large US grocery stores and online.

Can kids eat these?

The Cakes for Kids chapter was written for family parties. If your child has diabetes, go over the carbs per slice with their care team first.

How do I get the book?

Right after your payment, you get an email with a link to the book online and a PDF to save or print. Nothing is mailed to your home.

This book is for general information and is not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat or replace care from your doctor or diabetes care team. Results and blood sugar responses vary from person to person.
